Carved Buddhas

Our stone carvings are primarily from Java, Bali and Mandalay, Burma. They are carved in a variety of stones including lava stone, yogyastone and marble.

We search for the best of what we find, which hopefully encourages the art and not just production. We also work with artists who carve our own designs for us. The carvers welcome new ideas and generally within a few months, many people in the village are creating their own version, giving us even more to choose from!

The stone statues are intended for use outside, however, the lavastone, yogyastone and paras may need a good sealer to reduce problems with absorbing water and cracking in climates where it freezes or just to slow down wear from exposure to the enviroments. We can not guarantee that the stone will hold up in all situations. We suggest that you talk with a good quality paint store or cement yard to find the best sealer for your area.

Regarding placement of all statues, they are made from stone and are intended for outdoor placement. But we recommend, if it is possible, that you place them in a sheltered place, out of the wind and rain and full sun, where YOU would like to sit and meditate! No one likes to be exposed to harsh elements all the time! And, in a sheltered setting they may slowly grow a little bit of soft moss.
